Your Go-To Source for Custom Shaped Wire

Your Go-To Source for Custom Shaped Wire

At Brookfield Wire, we proudly serve a variety of industries with high-quality wire solutions. Our custom shaped wire is made with precise cross-sectional dimensions that are net or near-net in shape. With exact measurements, we can minimize production and scrap costs. Custom shaped wire is commonly used for wedge wire. Wedge wire is produced specifically for liquid-solid separation systems, filter screens, pulp and paper industries, waste treatment, commercial walkways, and fish hatcheries.

When you choose custom shaped wire from Brookfield, your productions will benefit. Custom shaped wire has continuous coils with fewer or no welds, multiple winding options, tight dimensional tolerances, consistent characteristics within the cross-section of the wire, and it can be produced to specific mechanical specifications. Available in coils or cut to length, our shaped wire solutions are available in a wide range of sizes, alloys, finishes, and tempers.

With our wide range of wire drawing capabilities, Brookfield never says no to a challenge. We offer unmatched wire manufacturing capabilities necessary to customize wire solutions to meet your requirements, such as stainless steel flat wire. Customers choose us for our quick lead times and better pricing than our competitors.

Flat Wire | Ribbon Wire

Flat wire, also known as ribbon wire, is one of our standard wire products. To start, a round wire is drawn to optimal sizing. Then, we roll the wire to a flat cross-section with a series of processes, using anneals when necessary.

Flat wire offers close dimensional tolerances and a variety of edges on narrow widths. Edge options include natural round, broken corner, full rounded, and square edge. Additionally, flat wire always comes in various alloys, finishes, sizes, and packaging, including continuous coils.

Brookfield Wire provides flat roll up to 1/2-inch wide. A maximum width thickness of 10:1 is possible in most cases. Square or rectangular wire up to 1/4-inch is common. Other sizes, which do not often meet this criterion, are available on an item-by-item basis, and all tempers are available, from strand annealed to spring.

Round Wire

With Brookfield’s wire drawing, manufacturing round wire has never been easier and more efficient. Round wire, fine wire, and ultra-fine wire are drawn in close dimensional tolerances. Rolled shapes can satisfy most other requirements that our diamond and carbide dies cannot. We supply round wire in catchweight coils, spools, and cut-to-length packaging.

Available Wire Packaging

Our packaging options include bulk spools, l lb. and 5 lb. spools, 1 lb. canisters, and bulk coils. We also offer 1/4 lb. Handi-Pak Coils & Bobbins with New England Butt, Wardwell 16 & 24 Carrier, and Hacoba.

Why is Wire Drawing the Best Process?

Wire drawing allows us to maintain the highest levels of precision at every stage of the production process. It is by far the most efficient and cost-effective method for developing custom shaped wire products. Here are some core advantages of precision wire drawing:

  • Excellent surface finishing

  • High volume production capabilities

  • Accurate control for strict dimensions

  • High speed and efficiency

  • Quick turnaround

  • Increased temper and hardness

Our wire drawing process also allows us to apply anneals at any point during production whether before, during, or after. The timing of the anneal will depend on the type of wire you need. If you are uncertain of which option is best for your project, our wire drawing experts can provide you with recommendations based on your application.

Tempering | Higher Strength, Higher Value

Tempering is a central part of our wire drawing process. To consistently deliver the finest shaped wire solutions on the market, we need to ensure our products offer superior strength and durability. The tempering process exposes metals in the wire to extreme temperatures and quickly cools them down. This not only increases overall strength, but also decreases internal stress, reduces brittleness, and significantly enhances corrosion resistance.

Our customers can choose from a full range of tempers from full spring to full annealed wire as well as intermediate tempers for custom products. Most importantly, we use only the highest quality metal materials in our wire drawing and tempering processes, so you always receive the strongest wire products with the highest value.
